Leading & building at UBS
From Software Engineer to Chapter Lead to Associate Director. Building software while helping the people who build it grow. Current chapter started March 2026.
Hi, I'm Riccardo Bertolini — software engineer and chapter lead at UBS. I care about good engineering, thoughtful products, and making the people building them actually enjoy the journey.
A very brief character sheet. No 45-minute onboarding required.
I started coding at age 10. The plot twist: I grew up to enjoy the people part just as much as the programming part.
Today I'm an Associate Director and Chapter Lead at UBS, bringing together software engineering, product thinking, and team leadership. Before that, I spent six years at EF Education First building frontend experiences for a global audience.
I like solving the hard problem, explaining it simply, and creating an environment where people can do their best work. Ideally with a little laughter along the way.
* Bars are vibes, not performance reviews. The professional history below is real.
Three chapters, several plot twists, and absolutely no dragons harmed.

Frontend Developer, then Senior Frontend Developer. Worked on React applications serving more than 20 countries. Lots of screens; even more lessons.
Built web experiences as a Web Developer at Free-think.it and a Fullstack Developer at 24 Consulting. Started in Verona, kept following the interesting problems.
Though sometimes a good team does feel a little magical.
